GRAND NATIONAL DIRT TRACK RECORD BOOK ONE NAME STANDS OUT, SCOTT PARKER. HE
STARTED RIDING MOTORCYCLES AT AGE 6 AND RODE IN HIS FIRST RACE WHEN HE WAS 11.
IN 1976 SCOTT WAS CROWNED AMA 250CC AMATEUR NATIONAL DIRT TRACK CHAMPION,
FOLLOWED IN 1978 BY A JUNIOR NATIONAL DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP, EARNED IN HIS
FIRST FULL SEASON ON 750CC MACHINERY.
PARKER JOINED THE AMA GRAND NATIONAL DIRT TRACK TOUR IN
1979 AND BECAME THE SERIES YOUNGEST WINNER AT AGE 17 WITH A VICTORY AT THE
DUQUOIN ILL. MILE. SCOTT WOULD WIN A SECOND TIME AT THE INDY MILE, AND END HIS
FIRST SEASON 9TH IN THE SERIES FINAL POINT STANDINGS, EARNING HIM THE AMA DIRT
TRACK ROOKIE OF THE YEAR TITLE.
FROM THERE PARKER WENT ON TO COMPILE AN IMPRESSIVE
RESUME. HE HAS WON APPROXIMATELY 25% OF THE RACES HE’S FINISHED, AND NOW LEADS
THE LIST FOR TOTAL CAREER WINS AT 94, MORE THAN DOUBLE THE TOTAL OF CLOSE FRIEND
JAY SPRINGSTEEN WHO IS SECOND WITH 41. IN 1988, TEN YEARS AFTER JOINING THE AMA
GRAND NATIONAL DIRT TRACK RANKS SCOTT WOULD SCORE HIS FIRST NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP, IN FACT HE WOULD GO ON TO WIN FOUR IN A ROW, TYING THE 30 YEAR OLD
RECORD SET BY CARROL RESWEBER. IN 1992 SCOTT WOULD LOSE THE BID FOR A RECORD
SETTING FIFTH TITLE BY 2 POINTS TO CHRIS CARR.
A NEW RUN AT RESWEBERS RECORD WOULD START IN 1994, AND
BY THE END OF THE 1998 SEASON THE RECORD FOR CONSECUTIVE GRAND NATIONAL TITLES
WOULD BE HIS.

Parker took wins at the Harrington, Del. Half-mile and the Del Mar, Calif., Mile, and had six additional six podium finishes. Parker maintained his status as the winningest rider in the history of AMA Grand National racing, with 93 victories. 1998 - The winningest rider in the history of the sport with a career total of 91 victories, Parker won a record ninth Grand National title with seven wins and an additional three podium finishes...Parker broke Carroll Resweber's 1961 record with five consecutive titles... Won the inaugural Hall of Fame race at the Springfield, Ill. Mile. 1997 - Parker had a slow start in 1997, but went on to take eight mid- and late-season wins and earned his eighth Grand National title... Parker tied Carroll Resweber's record of four consecutive championships for the second time in his career, and raised his career win total to 84. Rode for Harley-Davidson. 1996 - Another great year for Parker as he earned his seventh AMA Grand National title... Continued to build on his all-time AMA Grand National win record, six wins during the season brought his career total to 76 Grand National victories. 1995 - Won his sixth AMA Grand National title...
